Enemy War Preparations Continue Apace

21 June 2010: According to today's issue of the Kuwaiti daily newspaper Al-Anba another conference will hosted by the Syrian government in Damascus within the next week or so. The conference attendees are apparently limited to Iran, Syria, and the terrorist organizations Hezbollah and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

The stated purpose of this conference, which was agreed to on 4 June 2010, the 21st anniversary of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomenei's death, is to "activate resistance in the region in light of an expected Israeli offensive against Iran or against Hezbollah in Lebanon."

Is Ezekiel 38 Imminent?

Is Ezekiel 38 Imminent?

By Bill Salus
ProphecyDepot.com

20 June 2010: Current Middle East events are definitely stage setting for the final fulfillment of the Israeli War prophecies of Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 38-39. Turkey's recent newsworthy gyrations against Israel has got the “EZEKIEL 38 NOW” advocates rightfully at the edge of their seats. Now, Turkey and Iran, both members of the Ezekiel 38-39 prophecy, share a common enmity toward Israel.

Mainstream media has seized the opportunity to make Turkey’s bid to embarrass Israel and Iran’s nuclear aim to destroy Israel front page news. This media blitz has played an instrumental part in creating a significant amount of recent Ezekiel 38 newspaper exegesis.

Certainly, there is just cause to consider the Ezekiel 38–39 prophecy in light of recent events, however, what about Hezbollah, Syria, Hamas, and the Palestinians? They also are at odds with Israel and likewise frequently dominate current Mideast headlines. Curiously, Ezekiel 38 describes nine distinct populations by their ancient names including Russia, Iran, Turkey, and Libya but omits the historic name equivalents of Hezbollah, Syria, Hamas, and the Palestinians.

Chosen People Ministries: Isaiah 53 Will Change Your Life!!

8 June 2010: I am posting the most recent newsletter (hat tip to Drew!) from Mitch at Chosen People Ministries in New York City, N.Y. This "Completed Jew" ministry is about to kick off a most ambitious outreach campaign based upon the Messianic prophecy found in Isaiah 53.

Shalom!

We are about to begin one of the most ambitious evangelistic outreaches we have attempted in more than half a century. The outreach focuses on Isaiah chapter 53, with the slogan "This Chapter Will Change Your Life!" We hope and pray that many seekers will discover that the One who is described in Isaiah 53 can and will transform the life of anyone who calls upon Him!

Let me give you an overview of the Isaiah 53 Campaign so that you can pray with us.

Our goal is to familiarize both Jewish and non-Jewish people with the great Messianic prophecy recorded in Isaiah chapter 53, and we'll be starting in our own back yard, New York City. We want to proclaim the fact that the Gospel message is Jewish – and that it is true!

You see, most Jewish people believe that when Jewish people become followers of Jesus, they give up their Jewish identity. This is perhaps the greatest stumbling block keeping Jewish people from Jesus.

Isaiah chapter 53 is one of the clearest prophecies in the Hebrew Scriptures predicting the coming of a Messiah who would suffer, but also reign as king on the throne of David. Both of these prophetic portraits of the Messiah were fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth. Through the Isaiah 53 Evangelistic Campaign, we want to show Jewish people that the message of Jesus is founded on the Jewish Scriptures!

We will share this message with millions of New Yorkers through advertising in subways, on buses and billboards, and in The New York Times as well as other major publications and websites. The ads will offer a free book called Isaiah 53 Explained, which will be sent to all who respond either by phone or on our soon-to-be-launched website.

This outreach campaign will be combined with our Summer Training and Evangelism Program (STEP), in which a team of Chosen People Ministries staff members and volunteers will conduct two weeks of intensive ministry in New York City. The STEP team will do both public evangelism and follow-up with those who responded to the Isaiah 53 ads. They will be meeting with seekers by telephone, through personal visitation, and in small group Bible studies. We believe that this will be one of our largest and most effective evangelistic efforts in the New York area!

It is our goal to send a free copy of Isaiah 53 Explained to as many interested people as we can. We know that this effort will be blessed because of another passage in the book of Isaiah from chapter 55, where the prophet writes,

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." (Is. 55:11)

We are trusting God that He will produce fruit through His Word touching many lives in this campaign!

If you want us to send the book to your Jewish friend or friends, we will! Just send us their name and address. The book will be ready to mail around the third week of June.

The advertising budget for this evangelistic campaign is about $300,000; the books cost $2.00 each to print and there will be postage costs in addition. Your gift today would be a great help as we bring the message of Jesus, the Messiah foretold in Isaiah 53, to the Jew first and also to the Gentile!

Thanks for praying and caring!
Your brother,
Mitch

Current Events: What the Bible Says; What Jews are Expecting

6 June 2010: It's has been quite amazing for the past week to just sit back and witness the events off the coast of Israel, events which have caused many to suddenly forget about the much written about impending war between Israel and the "inner ring" of Arab Islamic enemies surrounding her.

It seems the whole world has now shifted its collective focus onto a resurgent Islamist Turkey, mind you a nation which is still a full member in good standing of the US/European NATO military alliance, and the potential for a military confrontation between Israel and Turkey. This theme has gone so far as to cause many gentiles to fawn over a group of Rabbis who think these events off Israel's coastline are a foreshadowing of Ezekiel's prophesied battle of Gog/Magog.

I, for one, am not buying into this newspaper exegesis. The prophetic Word of God reveals the truth of the matter, key verses coming from the prophet Daniel as imparted to him by the angel Gabriel, re-iterated in detail by the Lord Jesus Christ, spoken off by the Holy Spirit-filled Apostle Paul and end-capped by God the father Himself to Christ and to John on Patmos in the Revelation of Jesus Christ. These prophetic words, discussed at length on this blog, are what is true and what ultimately must take place.

It seems to me that Israel's blockade and quarantine of Gaza is militarily and diplomatically untenable in the long-term with an anticipated intervention in these blockade-running events by both Turkey's armed forces and the Islamic Republic of Iran's IRGC regular forces. A simple and quite possibly very necessary solution would be for Israel to send in the IDF to eliminate Hamas and the terrorist infrastructure and re-impose Israeli sovereignty over the whole of the Gaza Strip. Any foreign intervention thereafter in Gaza would be considered as an act of war under international law. Such an Israeli action could also very well precipitate the final act of the Psalm 83 war, wherein the Arab League determines to invoke its "final solution" upon Israel, as it originally attempted during 1947/48.

However, there remains the question of the eschatology of the Jews and the sequence of the events they believe will transpire leading up to the arrival of their Mashiach. Also as discussed earlier on this blog, a key prophecy in this vein as far as the Bride of Christ is concerned is that given before the Jews at the sheep gate pool, Bethesda, in Jerusalem by the Lord Jesus Christ. He said, "I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive." (John 5:43)

It is to this errant Jewish eschatological view that I address, for the sake of our awareness, the remainder of this blog entry with some studied observations.

The Third Temple MUST be erected on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Between now and then, the whole of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount will remain under full Israeli sovereignty until the mid-point of Daniel's 70th Week when the "abomination that makes desolate is set up" by the False Prophet specifically for the worship of "the Lawless One", the Antichrist, who will have suffered a mortal head wound (assassination attempt?) and yet will live, re-animated by the Satanic demon Apollyon/Abaddon.

From that the specific point of the setting up the abomination and the end of the daily sacrifice forward to 42 months, all of Jerusalem and the outer-court of the Temple will be over-taken by the Antichrist and trod underfoot by Gentiles. This is to say that the Antichrist, the one whom many of the Jews will accept as their long-awaited Mashiach, a man who must be of the line of David for the Jews to accept him, and hence his Jewish title "Mashiach ben David;" is the man who comes in his own name as prophesied by our Lord Jesus Christ. This false messiah will have under his sovereign control at this point the both the city of Jerusalem and the Temple on the Mount, while the outer court will be under the control of the gentiles, "the people of the prince" - the Romans - the population from which Antichrist will arise in the near future. (Daniel 12:11 & Matthew 24:15-32)

Clearly, the prophetic Word of God says nothing about the division of Jerusalem or of the Temple Mount until that point at the middle of Daniel's 70th Week. The modern State of Israel shall not lose, relinquish or cede control of Jerusalem or any portion of Temple Mount between right now and that point in the middle of Daniel's 70th Week. These places are freely taken from Israel by the "people of the prince," the Beast, and the False Prophet. Coming events will make these things increasingly clear as prophecy is fulfilled regarding Psalm 83, Isaiah 17, Zechariah 9, Joshua 13, among others, while we are en route to Daniel's 70th Week.

Given recent events, there are some who propose that President Obama might be the Antichrist. I believe that Obama cannot be the Antichrist. He is not, from our Biblical perspective, a descendant of the "people of the prince," nor can he be accepted by the Jews (as prophesied by Jesus Christ) simply because he is not of the lineage of King David, via King Solomon's progeny from the Jewish eschatological perspective. In fact, Obama does not even qualify to be the immediate predecessor false and pseudo-messiah the Jews are awaiting, the one known as Mashiach ben Yosef. The Jews believe this Mashiach ben Yosef will lead Israel militarily and ultimately is prophesied to die in the Battle of Gog/Magog (Ezekiel 38/39), which itself is a major event immediately preceeding the Messianic Redemption of Israel. Make note here that this Mashiach ben Yosef will be a man who is a descendent of the 10 northen tribes of Israel, the tribes of Joseph, and not of the Tribe of Judah, and therefore not of the lineage of Kings David and Solomon.

The Jews believe that following Mashiach ben Joseph's death during the Ezekiel 38/39 Gog/Magog battle Mashiach ben David (the Antichrist) will rise up and will lead the rebuilding of the Third Temple. Rebuilding of this Temple is one of the key items that Jews await, it is rebuilding of the Temple which serves to point to this man as being the Jews long-awaited Mashiach and their final redemption. We know differently, yet this is what the majority of Judaism believes and fully expects will take place in the near future.

Bill Salus: Why Arabs Hate Jews!

Eschatology Today note: If you have not yet read Bill Salus' cutting-edge book Isralestine, this short expose is a primer for the book, particlarly Chapter 10.

by Bill Salus

Present Middle East hostilities between the Arabs and Jews can be traced to a disposition of hatred originating almost four thousand years ago. At that time God made an unconditional covenant with the Hebrew patriarch Abraham. Due to the inherent blessings contained within this covenant, the infamous family characters of the Bible; Hagar, Ishmael, Esau, Moab, Ammon, and Amalek, coveted the contents of this covenant. These jealous individuals and their descendants that followed came to hate the Hebrews, the heirs of this blessed covenant.

Throughout time the neighboring Gentile peoples of the region found it advantageous to embrace rather than resist this adversarial disposition. Ultimately it evolved into a cleverly conceived religious package giving it license to unleash itself in a holy war. The “Jihad”, as it is often labeled, presently underway in the Middle East, finds its justification in Islam, but its roots are in this longstanding hatred.

The Bible describes this disposition as an ancient hatred or in some translations a perpetual enmity. The two Hebrew words are olam ebah, and when used together they describe a condition stemming back long ago in ancient times, perpetuated throughout time, manifesting into hostility with no apparent end in sight. They are only paired together in the entire Bible in these two passages listed below:

"Because you have had an ancient (olam) hatred (ebah), and have shed the blood of the children of Israel by the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, when their iniquity came to an end." (Ezekiel 35:5 NKJV; emphasis added)

'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because the Philistines dealt vengefully and took vengeance with a spiteful heart, to destroy because of the old (olam) hatred (ebah).” (Ezekiel 25:15 NKJV; emphasis added)

The first passage refers contextually to Mount Seir located in Edom, which is the territory of Esau . Today this area is known as Southern Jordan. In the Ezekiel 35:5 passage we see that the hatred was "had", or spawned, in the territory most closely associated with Esau. In the second passage of Ezekiel 25:5 we find that the Philistines embraced what was already preconditioned ("because of") in Edom by Esau. Today what was formerly known as Philistia, the land of the Philistines, is now sometimes referred to as "Hamastan", home of the Hamas, in the Gaza Strip. In both scriptures it is an enmity exhibited exclusively against the Jewish people. For a better understanding of the conflicts between the twin brothers Esau and Jacob, click here to read my article "The Twin Prophecies of Jacob and Esau".

The Bible teaches that this continuous and contagious disposition of hatred will evidence itself in a final Arab - Israeli showdown. It predicts a major war in the Middle East between those Arab nations that have refused to abandon the angered ancient attitude of their ancestors, and the Jews. It amounts to the final contest over the blessed contents contained within the Abrahamic covenant! The victor is once and for all exalted as the true heir apparent! This soon coming war is described in Psalm 83 and is the central theme of my book; Isralestine, The Ancient Blueprints of the Future Middle East.

This article briefly identifies below the roots of the hatred through scriptural accounts centered on the main patriarchs of the modern day Middle Eastern peoples. Much of the population in the region has their heritage traceable back to the patriarchs contained within this article. These ancestors were notable characters on the world scene, from which several historical nations were born.

These individuals were involved in significant events relative to the plan of God intended for the benefit of man. Therefore their interactions proved to be consequential in the history and development of the Middle East. The attitudes they adopted have been kept alive in the region throughout time immemorial. In order to understand the family feuds that took place between the Arab and Israeli patriarchs it helps to note that Abraham was a legendary figure during his day. By the time the blessed Abrahamic Covenant was issued and popularized throughout the Holy Land, Abraham had undergone several significant notorious events. In the Genesis 12:10-20 encounter between Abraham and Pharaoh, Abraham's notoriety became widespread throughout Egypt. Subsequently, Genesis 14 informs us that Abraham fought in a Mideast battle to redeem his nephew Lot from captivity. In the aftermath of Abraham's victory we see that the seven influential kings of Shinar, Ellasar, Elam, Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim, and Zoar esteemed Abraham mightily. A theme also picked up in Hebrews 7:1.

With Abraham's infamy firmly in place, rivalries began to take place between Sarah and Hagar, Isaac and Ishmael, Jacob and Esau, the Israelites and their cousins the Moabites and Ammonites, and lastly the Great-Great grandchildren of Abraham, the Hebrews and the Amalakites (Genesis 36:12). These family feuds centered on, Hagar's, Ishmael's, Esau's, Moab's, Ammon's, and Amalek's coveting of the content of the Abrahamic Covenant. The chapter called "Olam Ebah", The Ancient Arab hatred of the Jews in Isralestine details the adversarial episodes that took place between the patriarchs according to the references below:

Sarah vs. Hagar - Genesis 16, Genesis 21
Isaac vs. Ishmael - Genesis 16 - 17, Genesis 21
Jacob vs. Esau - Genesis 25 - 28, Genesis 32-33

Israelites vs. Moabites and Ammonites - Numbers 22- 25, Judges 3, Judges 10-11, 2 Kings 3, 2 Chronicles 20.

Hebrews and Amalakites - Numbers 14, Judges 3.

Disputes developed and festered over time throughout the Middle East among the above patriarchal kinships. All of them staked claim to portions of the Promised Land. As per Genesis 13:8-11, Moab and Ammon claimed rights to modern day Central and Northern Jordan. As per Genesis 36, Esau and his Edomite descendants declared sovereignty over modern day Southern Jordan. Additionally, several other ancient non-family related populations like the Philistines, Assyrians, Syrians, and Tyrians staked their own territorial claims around Israel as well.

Deep rooted concerns developed among these peoples over Israelite claims to the land promised them through Abraham as per Genesis 15:18. Even today, Arabs adamantly refute Israelite claims to this territory.

The reestablishment of the nation Israel on May 14, 1948 served as a deafening echo of the past to the surrounding Arab States of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. The Arab nations responded with wars in 1948, 1967 and 1973 in an attempt to eliminate the Jewish nation to settle the territorial dispute. While all of these Arab States regained their national identity in the aftermath of World Wars I & II, most of them still refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist as the Jewish State.

Whenever a Jew tries to raise a blue and white flag over more Middle East land, the Arab states turn red with anger as the ancient Arab hatred of Israel is re-kin-dled. Psalm 83:4 declares there are Arabs who hate the LORD. Psalm 83:6-8 identifies them as Hagar, Ishmael, Esau, Moab, Ammon, and Amalek. Ultimately, this ancient Arab hatred of God's covenantal promises to the Jews that has incubated in the Middle East for centuries will manifest into the Psalm 83 war. It is at that fateful point that the Israeli Defense Forces, empowered by the LORD, (Ezekiel 25:14, Obadiah 1:18) will put to rest the age old disposition of the Arab hatred toward Israel and conclusively settle the territorial disputes.Ezekiel 37:10 foretells of today's Israeli Defense Forces. They are emerging today, please watch the video at Bill Salus Prophecy Depot Blog.
