Ezekiel's Confirmation of Psalm 83

14 September 2012:  There is a passage in Ezekiel 38:10-12 that defines the real-world situation that will exist for a disbelieving Israel just prior to the attempt by "Gog of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal" to invade and conquer the land God has given to the descendants of Jacob. In fact, it is this very situation which is the catalyst for Gog's evil plans.

‘Thus says the Lord God: “On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land."
Many words have been written by Bible eschatologists in identifying the events which will create that situation for Israel. We know those many words as sound exegesis on the Psalm 83 war. But how many of us are aware that the prophet Ezekiel was also given a prophecy by God which confirms the singing prophet Asaph's Divinely inspired psalm? Yes, the Lord told Ezekiel that judgments would come against all those nations who despise the regathered house of Israel living in the land of Israel. Clearly, this judgment against Israel's neighboring adversaries occurs prior to the pre-70th Week prophetic events described in Ezekiel 38/39.

Ezekiel 28:24-26 has the prophetic confirmation of the coming Psalm 83 war.
“And there shall no longer be a pricking brier or a painful thorn for the house of Israel from among all who are around them, who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord God.” ‘Thus says the Lord God: “When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and am hallowed in them in the sight of the Gentiles, then they will dwell in their own land which I gave to My servant Jacob. And they will dwell safely there, build houses, and plant vineyards; yes, they will dwell securely, when I execute judgments on all those around them who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord their God.”

  1. Very good points Sean. We clearly see these people lining up against Israel today. We may not have long to wait before Psalm 83 gets fulfilled as well as eventually Ezekiel 38-39.

I was going back to the Ezekiel 38-39 passages and in Ezekiel 38:19 it says that God will in ONE day vent his frustration out on the invading armies. The term "in that day" shows that God does not need 3.5 years to win Ezekiel 38-39. No, he will defeat his enemies nice and quickly so that many including Israel will know that he is the Lord God of Israel.

This verse and wording in Ezekiel 38-39 would seem to put to rest the uninspired nonsense being promoted by a few that Ezekiel 38-39 last for years.

Further, I don't think God need several years to win a battle. No, just as God destroyed the 180,000+ camped outside Jerusalem one time in one night, I believe that God will show himself in clear and unmistakable action and destroy these invading forces in one day.

Keep up the good work. Keep it coming!

    God bless.

  2. The islamic antichrist advocates say ezekiel 28 is a prophecy concerning the millennium and burning weapons for fuel in the millennium is fulfilling the prophecy that says "they will beat their sword into plowshears...." personally i wish those idiots will give it a rest

  3. Great point Sean! I know I had read that and for some reason thought Ezekiel was talking about everyone who despised them, not just their Arab neighbors. I had misconstrued the "all around" as all who existed. But in light of your point, I think you are correct that this is a confirmation of the Psalm 83 prophecy.

    Blessings,

  4. Brothers,

As we all know, what God had prophesied to Ezekiel by His Living Word in chapter 28 verses 24-26 is no point that I am making here.

    Far from it.

Rather, what I am writing about is a Biblical prophetic insight which I do regard as conclusive proof from Scripture that the "inner ring" (as coined by Bill Salus in Isralestine) of Israel's enemies are thoroughly defeated and afterwards Israel begins to exist in the greater, wealthier and far more militarily secure condition which immediately precedes the fulfillment of the coming of the "outer ring" enemies of Ezekiel 38/39.

This would also indicate that not only does Psalm 83 come to fulfillment prior to Ezekiel 38/39, but so also does Isaiah 17 and Jeremiah 49:34-39, amongst a host of other inter-related prophecies.
