Global SITREP B3-23: Israel's 75th

UPDATED 23 April 2023: Israel's 75th year of its modern existence will be celebrated on Tuesday-Wednesday of this week. The following day, Thursday, April 27th, is the date sets by Israel's Coalition Government and its Security Cabinet upon which the IDF will be unrestrained from severe (read: disproportionate) responses to any and all acts of terror against Israel. This new policy will continue even at the risk of full-scale war against Israel's enemies.

This SITREP has been posted early in anticipation of potential enemy preemptive actions while Israel commemorates its Memorial Day beginning tomorrow from sundown through Tuesday. Israel's Memorial Day honors fallen IDF soldiers and civilian victims of Islamic acts of jihad. Iran's Twelver Ayatollah has again this morning reiterated his personal threat about the imminent destruction of the State of Israel.

Syria being destroyed by 13 years of continuous warfare.

28 April 2023: Key to the Twelver clerics offensive against Israel is the Rif Dimashq governorate illustrated in the map below. This vast area of southern Syria has seen continuous Israeli air, missile and artillery strikes over the past few years. These strikes have intensified in the first four months of 2023 in a campaign to dislodge both the IRGC, its proxy militias and Hezbollah of Lebanon from their bases. These bombardments have not succeeded in their objective as yet.

Syria's Rif Dimashq Governorate, Damascus and the Golan.

North and east of the Golan Heights is the Al Quneitra governorate, mostly occupied by Israel in the Six Day War of 1967 and again in the Yom Kippur War of 1973. This part of Al Quneitra is known as the Israeli Golan Heights was formally annexed by Israel in 1981. The 1981 Israeli annexation received the approval of the U.S. Trump Administration fours years ago. To the east are the governorates of Dara'a and As Suweida, known in ancient biblical times as Bashan and referenced in last days Bible prophecy. The Rif Dimashq governorate completely surrounds the doomed city of Damascus. Even though all of Syria will cease to exist following the fulfillment of Isaiah 17, it is these highlighted regions will will bear the brunt of the coming hostilities. And to the West of Rif Dimashq is Lebanon, the critical stronghold of the Shi'a, Iran-aligned Hezbollah terrorist organization.

In the past five days, through the patient waiting for the observances in Israel to pass and the prospect of IDF action against terrorists on all sides, the Lord has led to another critical prophecy concerning the coming days which severely impacts the whole of the region. Not previously refenced on Eschatology Today, the prophecy of Zechariah 11:1-3 is as relevant as Isaiah 17, Joshua 13, Psalm 83, Isaiah 11 and Ezekiel 28.

Elsewhere in Syria, and mostly in the skies above, are the increasingly belligerent actions of the remaining Russian Air Force contingent flying out of Hmeimim Air Base. The U.S. Air Forces CENTCOM commander, Lt. Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, has warning of the Russian AF pilots deliberately and repeatedly trying to provoke dogfight combat with US and Coalition fighter aircraft in the skies over Syria. General Grynkewich's directive to U.S. and Coalition pilots when they detect the Russian aggressive mid-air maneuvers is "don't take the bait." New rules of engagement (ROE) are almost certainly now in place and consummate with the risks present.

Therefore, the risk of a miscalculation or a direct attempt to shoot down one of our fighters over Syria increases with each sortie flown. The Russian commanders acknowledge this new reality saying that the previously agreed to deconfliction protocols no longer apply. This new reality is a direct the result of NATO's support of Ukraine and which Russia's views as a NATO war against Russia.

FINAL UPDATE 30 April 2023: For those interested, the final update to SITREP B3-23 features a clickable map of Syria as it exists today. It is hoped this map will bring home the tenuousness of the Bashar al-Assad's Syrian regime and the ultimate reason for its demise as foretold in Isaiah 17 and Jeremiah 49:23-27

As the title of this map indicates, Syria as a country is a rump version of what it had been prior to 2010-11 and the outbreak of the Syrian Civil War. As we have often heard of late, a country that does not control its borders will soon cease to be a country. It is also instructive to compare this map with the map of Rif Dimashq just above.

And make note of the internal division of the country that is the Euphrates River. The government forces control only the northern third of the west bank of the Euphrates, from Manbij to Raqqa. The remainder of the southern west bank is under the control of the IRGC and proxy Shi'a forces to Abu Kamal. The entire east bank of the Euphrates River, from the Turkish border Abu Kamal is controlled by the SDF and the U.S.-led international coalition known as Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR).

The U.S. also has control of a vast area around the At Tanf desert town straddling the Iraqi and Jordanian borders to approximately 55 miles in to Syria. In this position the U.S. forces are in the rear areas of Iranian and Hezbollah forces, and thereby protect Israel along the Golan Heights front. At any time in full-scale conflict the OIF forces could sever the IRGC and proxy forces access to Syria and its major supply lines along the Euphrates from Baghdad, Iraq to Abu Kamal, Syria. The whole of Lebanon and western Syria would in such circumstance be Israel's for the taking, up to the west bank of the Euphrates River, just as Bible prophecy foretells.

  1. When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand.Joshua wemt up to him and demanded, "Are you friend or foe ?"

Neither one, He replied. I am the commander of the Lord's army. At this, Joshua fell to his face to the ground in reverence. I am at your command, Joshua said. What do you want me to do?

The commander of the Lord's army replied, Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy. And Joshua did as he was commanded.... rdcrane

    1. This "man" who was prepared for battle was no angel. He was God, because Joshua fell before Him in worship and was not rebuked for doing so.

In a similar fashion, it is God who will lead as "commander of the Lord's armies" in the coming battles.

  10. Today HAMAS' paper Falastin published an pre-war analysis of the coming conflict, which except for the inclusion of Syria, is a virtual repeat of Psalm 83's axis of Israel's enemies.

The analysis also predicts that Israel will preemptively strike the axis of enemies.

It was preemptive strikes by Israel that launched the Six Day War of 1967, where Israel eliminated the greatest threat -- the Egyptian Air Force and Air Defenses to achieve total air supremacy in mere hours on the first day.

  11. In every direction just 10 minutes from central Damascus one will find destruction on monumental scale. The major cities of Homs, Aleppo, and Hama lie in desolate ruins. Then further north the destruction is absolute due to the recent 7.8 and 7.5 earthquakes.

Damascus is virtually untouched by the 13 years of civil war. This is why the fulfillment of Isaiah 17 and the ruination of Damascus will be such a critical event. It will complete the prophetic destruction of Syria as it has been known for thousands of years.

  14. It's a shame some folks simply do not understand my Mission Statement, which has defined the sole purpose of Eschatology Today for the past 14 years:
"Current world events seen through the clarifying lens of the LORD's inerrant prophetic word. The Lord's Word proclaims a series of 'latter days' events leading to the second coming of Jesus Christ and the establishment of His Kingdom upon the earth in this generation."

Imagine the benefit to the babes-in-Christ living in the Holy Land during the period of 66-70 A.D. had there been something in the likeness of Eschatology Today available as several Roman Legions slowly advanced through Eretz Israel to then put Jerusalem in a state of military seige.

Yes, hindsight is 20/20, but so is the inerrant prophetic Word of God being fulfilled before our eyes prior to the advent of the Harpazo of the Bride of Christ and Israel's 70th Week of Years.

Nothing would be more pleasing than for today to be the last day for this blog.

The lack of the avowed response to terror has visibly split the Coalition Government and alienated those Israeli citizens who voted it into office. Otzma Yehudit is boycotting Knesset votes as a protest of the woefully weak response.

The Coalition today has egg on its face; it has emboldened the terrorists from Tehran, Damascus, Beirut and Gaza, if not also Amman.

There is but one option for Netanyahu and his secular Likud to resolve this situation quickly.

As stated 3 days ago, "The time has come to patiently watch events unfold as foretold."

That means last days events will occur ONLY at the time appointed by God. As we have seen over several years to the present, several prophecies are within an active process of fulfillment.

The tactical advance of several Roman Legions towards Jerusalem during 66-70 AD was a process of fulfillment of both Gabriel's prophecy to Daniel (9:24-27) and Jesus' prophecy at the beginning of His Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24, etc.) to His disciples. Both remain in-process.

Today there are multiple streams actively in-process which will culminate at the Lord's appointed time, like a flood.

    3. Yesterday I wrote: "Israel must hit back very hard to recover deterrence. Failing that invites the regional war."

It's now very clear that secular Bibi Netanyahu and his Likud fear the regional war more than anything. They fear it because they have no trust in the God of their fathers. The sad thing is their Arab Islamist enemies know this as well. And that guarantees more war coming soon.

  17. There exists an accute crisis in the current Coalition government (Likud and the Religious Zionists, particularly the Otzma Yehudit party). The Likud led by Netanyahu is failing to honor coalition agreement which secured the votes needed to win the last election. Otzma Yehudit will abstain from Knesset voting until Netanyahu reverses his current policy decisions which favor the politics of the U.S. Biden Administration over the security and safety of Israel's citizenry.

Eschatological Note: Otzma Yehudit's policies and agenda are clearly in sync with the safety and security Israel will achieve just prior to the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38/39.

  18. Yes, Eschatology Today is aware that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant made a public statement during his visit to Greece that Iran has amassed enough fissile material for 5 nuclear warheads (20% and 60% enrichment), but did not make note of it last Thursday because we have known this for some time now.

We noted that Iran attained 85% fissile purity earlier this year and that the Israel government has made it clear they will strike with or without American participation in such a strike on Iran's nuclear sites.

The next SITREP has been in a holding pattern in anticipation of the Israeli strike taking place. Don't be surprised if Otzma Yehudit forces this issue.

  19. Hey Sean, I'd like to revisit a question I've asked before and here your thoughts (if they changed) do you see Netanyahu acting in a psalm 83 way? Personally, right now I don't see it, but I also see him being the person God has put in place so I'm guessing something will happen to change Netanyahus approach. I'd really like your thoughts on this (perhaps it'll be a repeat of what you said previously)

    1. Jon,

I believe Bibi Netanyahu is Israel's PM because that is the Lord's sovereign will. For the exact same reason the Lord also has the Religious Zionists holding real power in the coalition government, and in that position they'll hold him to the promises made before the election.

The religious zionists have the political power to ensure Bibi will act as necessary and within the Lord's will for Israel. This applies to Iran, Syria and the Psalm 83 scenario.

As hinted at in my comment above Otzma Yehudit can force the issues - they will play the key role in changing Israel from a secular state to a halachic state (Temple worship; daily sacrifice, etc., etc.), as much as Isaiah 17 will massively alter Israel's religious/secular demographic.

    2. Chuck,
Perhaps it is a start, we'll see soon enough.

"Operation Shield and Arrow" began last night and will continue as necessary.

IDF Reserves called up, several hundred, possibly more. Senior PIJ commanders eliminated by IAF (jets and choppers) in opening preemptive strikes; additional "gloves off" strikes continue throughout Gaza.

And in Sechem, Samaria, terrorists are no longer in the fight as part of the same Op.

Remains to be seen if HAMAS joins the fight and how deep Israel takes Operation Shield and Arrow, but thus far the Otzma Yehudit and IDF have prevailed upon Bibi Netanyahu to launch an operation of this size and scope.

  23. The terrorist Twelver regime of Iran is the primary foreign backer of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

Israeli intelligence has learned that Iran is pushing HAMAS to join the PIJ in its war against Israel. Hence the Israel threat today of a "crushing response" to any group that escalates the fight beyond where it is now.

If HAMAS does join the fight it is likely to do so soon after the mass funeral of the slain PIJ leadership. Israel may preemptively strike HAMAS' leadership as its leaders invoke language very similar to the leading verses of Psalm 83.
