UPDATE 6 October 2015: SITREP D7-15 has been about the external aspects of the Psalm 83 and directly related prophecies being driven by events related to violence around Jerusalem's Temple Mount and Jewish desires for sovereignty and full access, plus the overall sequence of prophetic events and how they are coming upon the world "as a flood." Now we see the internal aspects of Psalm 83 being driven by the rampant and ancient hatred of Arab Muslims against the very existence of Israel. This will be the subject of the following SITREP D8-15.
25 September 2015: As was reported yesterday by Israeli media, the 1994 peace treaty between Israel and Jordan is at risk of collapse because of the strife occurring on Mount Moriah, site of Islam's Dome of the Rock and future home of Israel's 3rd Temple, which this blog refers to as the 70th Week Temple.
The strife which has been occurring for some time can legitimately be referred to as kinetic Islamic jihad against the presence of infidels. The jihadists have taken to arming themselves with more than rocks to hurl as projectiles at non-Muslim infidels on the mount, but explosives and firebombs are being utilized and stored within the Al Aqsa Mosque for the waging of jihad. This is obviously known and condoned by the Islamic authority, the Waqf, which is under the jurisdiction of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The Israeli government's (PM Netanyahu and Security Cabinet) response to this escalating jihad on the mount has been to authorize a .22 caliber 'open fire' order for Israeli security forces to immediately halt any threat to human life by the jihadists actions.
The high-end result of Israel's new rules of engagement for its security forces on Mount Moriah has been a total freeze in the 24-year long peace treaty status quo between Jordan and Israel as ordered by the Jordanian monarch, Abdullah II, who has openly declared the Temple Mount to be a "Muslim's Only" religious site. All lines of communication between Abdullah II and PM Netanyahu have now ceased, and a direct threat of Jordanian abrogation of the 1994 Peace treaty suddenly exists as Jordan is threatening to break diplomatic relations by expelling the Israeli Ambassador.
The clearly spoken threat made by Abdullah II is that "grave consequences for the entire region" will result from what it says are Israel's attempts at "Judaizing" the Temple Mount. These are unambiguous words threatening war, the war we know from Bible prophecy as the Psalm 83 War. Our watchful eyes are wide open.
21 September 2015 (Edited to include New Information): Eschatology Today has noticed of late the emergent travail within the bride of Christ regarding the fulfillment of the prophecy of Psalm 83. My intent has been to stay clear of the fracas, but that is no longer a viable position to maintain.
In a nutshell, and because I do not wish to belabor the issue here, Bill Salus sent out a report yesterday which clearly illustrates the travail. Bill is at a point of brotherly loggerheads on this issue with Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum whose opinion, according to Salus, holds the view that Psalm 83 was fulfilled in 1948. The Salus counter-point is that the primary instigator are the modern-day Edomites whose tents (i.e. war refugee status) did not come into existence until after the combat of 1948-49 was concluded with the armistice of 1950.
In the past week I have researched this issue and have found nothing to indicate Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum holds the view that's been assigned to him. To the contrary I have found that Fruchtenbaum has long held to the same interpretation as I do; that Psalm 83 has been a prophecy in the process of fulfillment since 1948, and it primarily involves two front line Arab Muslim nations: Lebanon and Jordan. His work "The Arab States in Prophecy, Part 2" clearly makes this point of view. So, now I am at a complete loss to understand why there is any disagreement between Salus and Fruchtenbaum, they are on the same page and much of Salus' work in his 2008 book Isralestine came from reading what Fruchtenbaum had penned previously.

To re-cap the Psalm 83 War from 1948 to the Present and the expected outcome in the near future:
As readers of Eschatology Today will probably recall, I have addressed the Psalm 83 fulfillment issue since 2009 within the context of the "Prophetic Dominoes" paradigm, which itself is 100% based upon the study of the sequence of warfare of prophecy within the word of God. More importantly still than this Bible-based paradigm is the fact, as also readily understood by Eschatology Today readers, that the word of God tells us directly and precisely when Asaph's Psalm 83 prophecy will have come to its fulfillment: Isaiah 11:12-14 and Ezekiel 28:24-26.
For the past 67 years Psalm 83 has remained and continues to be a Holy Spirit-inspired prophecy in the process of fulfillment!
As prophetically declared by Isaiah: Does Israel have sovereignty over Gaza and are those terrorists vanquished? Are the ancient lands of Edom and Moab in modern-day Jordan now the sovereign territory of Israel; do the people of Amman obey the government of Israel in Jerusalem?
As prophetically declared by Ezekiel: Does there still exist today a "pricking brier" of despising enemies all around Israel; does Israel dwell safely and securely and build houses at their leisure wherever they choose to build them?
When these prophetic specifics have become reality as the aftermath of full-scale warfare between Israel and the enemies which currently surround her, then and only then can it be stated with absolute certitude that Psalm 83 has come to its ultimate fulfillment. Until then several dominoes must fall in their sequence; this is what we are witnessing in the run-up to Isaiah 17, and ultimately after Psalm 83 the specific conditions which will exist for the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38/39 to occur.
With all due respect to Dr Arnold fruchtenbaum, doesn't zephaniah chapter 2, speaking of the same prophecy as psalm 83, clearly put it in proximity to the day of the Lord, the time of Jacob's trouble? Indicating that this prophecy will be fulfilled just prior to the time of Jacob's trouble, or 70th week?
ReplyDeletehartdawg,
ReplyDeleteYes, with all due respect to Dr. Fruchtenbaum, the parallel prophecy of Zephaniah 2 is another to add to Isaiah and Ezekiel which has a pre-70th Week date/time stamp embedded within its text.

ReplyDeleteI need to clarify in my own mind.
Are you saying Psalm 83 will have complete fulfillment prior to Ezekiel 38?
Bob in Texas,
ReplyDeleteSince the very beginning (2009) blog posts on Eschatology Today have been repeating what God has said through His prophets -- Psalm 83 will have complete fulfillment prior to Ezekiel 38.
I will repeat His prophetic word once again here.
What did God have Ezekiel prophesy as the specific condition in which Israel will exist when the attempt is made by Gog of Magog and his confederate allies to invade and conquer?
Ezekiel 38:10-12
"‘Thus says the Lord God: “On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’ — to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land."
What did God have Ezekiel prophesy as the specific condition that will be the result of Israel's (Psalm 83) victory over all of the surrounding enemy nations?
Ezekiel 28:24-26
"“And there shall no longer be a pricking brier or a painful thorn for the house of Israel from among all who are around them, who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord God. ‘Thus says the Lord God: “When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and am hallowed in them in the sight of the Gentiles, then they will dwell in their own land which I gave to My servant Jacob. And they will dwell safely there, build houses, and plant vineyards; yes, they will dwell securely, when I execute judgments on all those around them who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord their God.""
Does this fully clarify the sequence of these prophetic last days wars for you?
Bob, I'd highly recommend bill salus' book isrealstine. It explains it all. I have not yet read his other books psalm 83 the missing pieces (I'm not sure of the name of it) or nuclear showdown with iran. I'm sure they are excellent books tho

ReplyDeleteJust one more thing, Bob, and anyone else interested, bill salus appeared on prophecy watchers with gary stearman a number of times and also on prophecy in the news. In these shows he explains psalm 83 and Jeremiah 49. I don't know how to post links but I'm sure if you go to YouTube and type in prophecy watchers bill salus you'll find them. Great programs.
ReplyDeleteExcellent advice hartdawg!
ReplyDeleteBob, I hope these things has been of help to you in gaining understanding of the prophetic sequence of current and future events (battles/wars).

ReplyDeleteThanks, Sean and Hartdawg. I have the book and watched Salus/Stearman on "tube."
I very much appreciate you guys sharing your knowledge,
Bob
This open 22 caliber thing has me worried that this will escalate things futher. We could well be looking at a breaking of the treaty by year's end or next year. Definitely keeping an eye on this.
ReplyDeleteHmm very interesting! I always suspected that Jordan would have to either fall or turn on israel just prior to the final fulfillment of psalm 83. I wonder if this is what will cause it.
ReplyDeletePlease keep an eye on this and keep us posted
Sean,
ReplyDeleteSeeing Jews going to Israel in increasing numbers seems to indicate a probable need for more or expanded need for housing and settlements. This will be more heartburn for Palestinians,Obama, the Pope,Jordan, and the UN - who will all align against Israel.
What is your view on this dynamic? Could this this trigger Psalm 83?
Anon,
ReplyDeleteMy view is that new settlements (new housing construction) anywhere in Israel have been an issue for any and all Muslims who are taught from birth that the Jews occupy Muslim land.
This has nothing to do with "Palestinian" or Jordanian, or Lebanese or Syrian or Bedouin, whatever nationality. However this has everything to do with the Islamic teaching that there are two types of land in the world: Dar al-Islam, or Muslim lands, and Dar al-Hard, the land of war where Muslims must fight and conquer to make those lands Dar al-Islam. It has been this way with Islam for 1400 years and it will never change until Islam is no more.
The cause for Psalm 83 is very clearly stated by the inspired prophets Asaph, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah and Zephaniah and has been in existence from the very beginning - hatred of the Jew and the God of Israel. Islam need no other casus belli for waging the war we know in general over the past 67 years as the Psalm 83 war, but which is nothing less than a genocidal war waged by Islam so that not even the name Israel will survive the holocaust.
God has promised through His prophets that exactly the opposite will befall the Muslims and their religion because of their hatred.
I think Obadiah may also be another reference to psalm 83. There is simply too much scripture to say psalm 83 is just a prayer. Dr fuchtenbaum needs to rethink his position
ReplyDeleteAgreed Hartdawg!
ReplyDeleteUntil proven otherwise, I have concluded that, unfortunately, Dr. Fruchtenbaum is unaware of multiple Psalm 83 parallel prophecies as they have been written by the major prophets.
As a scholar Fruchtenbaum should be well aware of a device the prophets used in putting the inspiration of the Holy Spirit into printed words: synonymous parallelism.
Usually, just one prophet, such as Asaph whose words were lyrical and intended to be sung, would write his inspired psalms in this manner. However, when several prophets are writing the exact same thing hundreds of years apart, this simply cannot be ignored. It is of God.
All of these great prophets were inspired of the One and Only Holy Spirit. Accordingly, these parallel prophecies have only one correct interpretation.
Hartdawg (and anyone else who is interested in this topic),
ReplyDeleteHere is something of considerable importance I just located during a data mining search which is from Dr. Fruchtenbaum. This directly concerns his view about the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. I do not know when this was published, but I have added bold to emphasize one key theme because it is very explicit with respect to a theme I also maintain as a key element of prophetic interpretation: the "ongoing process of prophetic fulfillment" which is prior to and distinct to the events of the 70th Week.
" God in his Word has spelled out the details of prophecy and some of these prophecies have been fulfilled in the last century such as Israel becoming a state (1948) and Israel gaining sovereignty over the Old City of Jerusalem (1967). While the Temple is not yet being built there is intensive effort by three different religious Jewish groups to get the Temple rebuilt in preparation for Messiah’s coming. The fact that these things are occurring shows that God’s prophetic timetable is in the process of being fulfilled and while He gives us a sequence of events chronologically He does not provide the time element between one event and another until the Tribulation starts.
What is important for us is to know the Bible also teaches there is only one way to avoid the Tribulation and to escape from it and that is by means of the Rapture of the Body of Messiah, when all believers who passed away will have their bodies resurrected and the others living will simply be caught-up or raptured to meet the Messiah in the air. But to qualify for this event one must be a true believer and what one must believe is spelled out in I Corinthians 15:1-4: First, the Messiah died for our sins; second, He was buried (the evidence of His death); and third, He rose again on the third day.
If we believe the gospel and trust that alone for our salvation, we are given eternal life and those who are given eternal life are also given the promise that they will not have to suffer the wrath of God which is what the Tribulation is about. The Church is never promised it will escape persecution, but it is promised that it will escape the wrath of God and for that reason Church saints will be resurrected and raptured to meet the Lord in the air sometime before the Tribulation actually begins."
How this view of Dr. Fruchtenbaum does not apply to Psalm 83 and the directly related prophecies (as mentioned by Bill Salus) remains to be cleared up fully, and that is exactly what I am about to do.
The above referenced quote from Dr. Fruchtenbaum is from June 2011.
ReplyDeleteOther information I have just read also confirms that he views Psalm 83 as a prophecy in process of fulfillment; he clearly states his view that Scripture is clear - Israel's military conquest of Lebanon and Jordan is definitively a future event.
I now think what has occurred between Salus and Fruchtenbaum regarding Psalm 83 is some type of a misunderstanding of each others views.
I'm glad to know that. Even the best scholars can be wrong, it's how they handle correction that matters. Very few scholars have been shown where they're mistaken and have changed their position accordingly
ReplyDeleteThat's the problem I'm having right now Hartdawg - I don't know for a fact that Fruchtenbaum ever changed from the interpretive teaching position he has held for many years. This is what I have now included in the significant edited portion of the original SITREP D7-15 posting. Everything I've seen thus far tells me Salus must have misunderstood what Fruchtenbaum said to him at a recent prophecy conference.
