Global SITREP B5-23: Follow-up to Operation Shield and Arrow

Jerusalem Day flag march at Damascus Gate 2021

UPDATED! May 15, 2023: This follow-up SITREP to Operation Shield and Arrow is not to down play what the IDF achieved in combat against Palestinian Islamic Jihad (holy war), but to highlight what the prophetic Word of God has to say. Israel's government has given its blessing to Palestinian Islamic Jihad having its hudna, a period of time in which the terrorists are permitted a "time out" to re-organize its decimated leadership and re-constitute its means to "lift up their head" yet again to wage war against the citizens of Israel. This is in full view of Israel's enemies who hate to God of Israel and have declared their intent is to cut Israel off from being a nation; that the name of Israel be forgotten (Psalm 83:4). The same goes for all of the rest of Israel's enemies around them. This includes HAMAS.

Yet, for some currently unfathomable reason, which possibly if not probably is grotesquely political in nature, the IDF staff are giving some assurance through Israeli media that HAMAS is less likely to attack when Israelis march through Jerusalem this week in celebration and remembrance of the liberation of East Jerusalem in the Six Day War of June 1967. In today's edition of Israel HaYom (Israel Today) the IDF has published their assessment that the now concluded Operation Shield and Arrow has "reduced the chance" that HAMAS will rain rockets down upon Israel's cities; that Israel now exists in a "more secure position" than it was just days ago. The IDF does concede that its assessment of  HAMAS holding its fire is not high, but it still exists.

In military terms this is known as a "Probability versus Risk" assessment. Instead of there being a High Probability-High Risk of HAMAS going to war later this week, the IDF assesses a Low Probability-Low Risk of HAMAS going to war against Israel.  This assessment is based upon the fact that, despite its public rhetoric, HAMAS did not actively engage in direct combat support of Palestinian Islamic Jihad's one-thousand rocket and mortar launches aggression. A HAMAS spokesman is also on record to Arab media saying that it will not allow the "Judaization" of the al-Aqsa Mosque, the performance of religious sacrifices or "Flag Marches;" that HAMAS will thwart any Jewish attempt at expansion or control over Jerusalem." That kind of Islamist language means one thing: Jihad (unholy war ).

According to the prophetic Word of God there remains a considerable military action for the IDF to engage in pursuit of the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38:8-11 and "bring the Eretz Israel (the land of Israel) back from the sword" so that Am Israel (the people of Israel) "all of them now dwell safely." This is the safety and security Israel will briefly experience prior to the Gog of Magog attempt to invade. That means, as we have discussed for a very long time, the whole of the Psalm 83, Isaiah 11, Ezekiel 28, Joshua 13, Isaiah 17, and Jeremiah 49:34-39 prophecies must come to their fulfillment first.

Missile War over Ashkelon 13MAY23 (Yossi Aloni/Flash90)

Will the Islamists of HAMAS launch a war later this week? Eschatology Today assesses the Probability-Risk as a Medium-High Probability and Medium-High Risk. Will this war happen as some point? Yes, it is an absolute certainty. Was the IDF successful in keeping HAMAS out of this past week's war with the PIJ? Not really. HAMAS follows the dictates of Iranian Twelver clerics, as does Hezbollah.

Eschatology Today believes it was not within the will of God for the greater war to occur this past week, and as always this belief is based upon the Word of God. In the midst of the linked verses above from Ezekiel's prophecy, right in the middle, we read the words "On that day." These words signify an appointed time, the Lord's appointed time in accordance with His will. In the same manner we can turn to Isaiah 11:11 and read "And it shall come to pass in that day..." This prefaces what takes place in verse 14, and verse 14 deals explicitly with - Gaza. Ezekiel 28:25-26 reiterates the word given to Isaiah, which is also about the timing. And which is to say 'when this has been done, then this will happen." And finally, we have Psalm 83 which explicitly names all of the enemies noted in Ezekiel 28:24

These things must take place.

Marana'tha!

UPDATE! 17 May 2023: Eschatology Today has always been keen to note "past as prologue" within prophetic Scripture. I believe we've just witnessed a forerunner, or more correctly a partial fulfillment of what Asaph the Chozeh (Prophet) wrote in Psalm 83:9-18. Psalm 83:9-12 are the key verses, and verses 13-18 will be the embodiment and ultimate fulfillment.

Israel's military and intelligence capability has progressed to the point where they enabled the precise, real-time geo-location of the critical cadre of enemy leaders. A tremendous technological feat to be sure! These enemy leaders were dealt with (killed) as Midian, Sisera and Jabin were in the very first seconds of the IDF's Operation Shield and Arrow. Then, within 24-48 hours, the second tier-level of leaders who stepped up into the deceased leaders roles were dealt with (promptly dispatched) as were Oreb, Zeeb, Zebah and Zalmunna in ancient times.

I was awakened this morning to what was originally published here on 22 September 2009 being replayed in my mind - word for word. My response was, "Yes Lord, I understand." Talk about excitement!!! This posting was titled "All these things be fulfilled... Part I and Part II." I would direct your attention specifically to the Part II section of the post as there was a lot of research done in order to fully comprehend the prophetic nature of what Asaph was inspired to write, and then perform as a song. Asaph was not only a prophet of God, but he was a musician and sang these words as a song. My sense is that what we just witnessed was a foreshadowing of some of the specifics and events which are soon to occur in in complete fulfillment of what we have long referred to as the Psalm 83 scenario.

  1. SITREP B5-23 could have a very brief shelf-life of perhaps 5 days, but its all in the Lord's omnipotent hands. He keeps His appointments.

  2. Post-Op Shield and Arrow analysis reveals an interesting point.

With the IDF's elimination of the PIJ's top three commanders and the subsequent elimination of the second string trio of PIJ commanders the burden of tactical command fell to the third string of commanders who are based in Damascus, Syria and recieve their orders from IRGC-QF officers who are in turn directed from Tehran.

In the next war Israel's disruption of tactical command and control (C2) of terrorist organizations will necessitate precision strikes across a much wider battlefield in Syria, Lebanon and perhaps even Iran.

This could be the same peace and security of 1 Thessalonians 5:3:

"3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape."

  4. I don't think so.

I think in 1 Thessalonians 5:3 Paul is referring to the "they" who are non-Christians in the post-Harpazo world; "they" who are living in the 70th Week of Years under the Antichrist's confirmed covenant among many. Jesus Himself also spoke of this in His Olivet Discourse.

Are witnessing the makings of a perfect geo-political storm? Inless than 48 hours we'll find out.

  6. Nearly 14 years since the linked "All these things...Pt 1 & 2" and the post came to me as I slept early this morning and I awoke with an excited start. Made a beeline to the laptop to create this update, knowing full well by the Spirit of its import. Positively electric!

    1. Wow, Sean! Of course, after going back to Parts I & II, I had to go and read Judges 7 & 8. Hard to realize that was 14 years ago way before I discovered ET blog. I assume this “flame on the mountains” could cover Mt. Carmel for at least one of the sites of this coming conflagration. Very humbling that we were chosen to witness these amazing fulfillments of the Lord’s prophecies.

  7. DM Yoav Galant has ordered the repealing of the 2005 disengagement law in Samaria. Israeli citizens will now be able to re-establish communties razed in the disengagement. The IDF will now also greatly increase its presence in Samaria. It's happening.

  8. Leaning forward with a Question:

Are Sheba and Dedan the Arab nations who have joined with Israel in the Abraham Accords?

A simple yes or no will suffice.

      I agree 100%.

We could not have known this just 32 months ago. What a prophetic indicator!

  10. It's good to see HAMAS wasn't able to provoke a major confrontation in Jerusalem today. Lots of bark, not much bite.

  11. I thought Sheba & Dedan were Saudi Arabia. UAE & Baharain are in the Abraham Accords. Saudi Arabia isn't in AA at this time is it?

    1. I ascribe to the ICR interpretation of who the modern day Sheba and Dedan are.

"Sheba and Dedan are apparently rather peripheral and relatively small Arab nations, who will not join with the other Muslim nations in the anti-Israel confederation. Probably they represent oil-rich nations whose interests are mainly economic, and thus who side with “the merchants of Tarshish.”

This closely defines Bahrain and the UAE. Sheba (as in Queen of) in ancient times was a kingdom that crossed the Red Sea, between moden Yemen and Sudan.

Sudan has been in the Abraham Accords for about two years, Bahrain and UAE for almost three years. Morocco is also an AA country.

Saudi Arabia is expected to join soon.

  13. It's not looking too good for Saudi Arabia to join the Sheba and Dedan group. Not too good at all.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Ibn Salman said the following today at the Arab League summit:

"The Palestinian issue was and still is the main issue of the Arab countries and is at the top of the kingdom's priorities. We will not delay in providing assistance to the Palestinian people in recovering their lands, restoring their legitimate rights and establishing an independent state within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital."

    This statement is a non-starter.

  14. The US, British and French Mid-East naval commands sent a message to Iran yesterday when all three senior commanders transited the Strait of Hormuz on board the destroyer USS Paul Hamilton (DDG-60).

The message was that continued Iranian interference, hijackings or attacks upon commercial vessels near the Strait will result in joint US-UK-FR military action.

  15. Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir ascended Temple Mount this post-Sabbath morning and made this statement to the whole world:

"I am happy to visit the Temple Mount, the most important place to the people of Israel. I must say that the police are doing an amazing job and, again, prove who the boss is in Jerusalem. All of Hamas' threats won't help, we are in charge of Jerusalem and of all of the land of Israel."

    1. Greetings in the Lord, fellow ET'ers. Good for him! Without understating for a moment the terrible gravity of the events soon to unfold, it is cathartic to finally see Israel removing the gloves without concern for international reaction. Israel is in their land by God's Decree and they have the Lord of Hosts commanding Michael standing with them. This statement by Mr. Gvir will undoubtedly dial the jihadist 'rage meter' up to '11' (I see the Biden admin is already complaining). Can't be long now. Steve G.

  16. When the Spiritof the Lord reinforces truth, especially prophetic truth, it matters not where we are on planet earth - be it in the US or Madagascar - the Bride of Christ proclaims that same Truth.

Brother Steve, I had the same thoughts as you about Ben Gvir's ascent of Temple Mount and reaction to it. All of this is the Lord executing His will for the redemption of all Israel and grafting in of the nations as Paul spoke by the Holy Spirit; as Asaph proclaimed by the Spirit, and as Ezekiel proclaimed by the Spirit...

  17. I can't help but wonder: How long will Israeli civilians permit the cowardly terror attacks to continue against them in Judea and Samaria before forcefully insisting military action be taken by their right-wing government?

Tonight a mother with her four daughters (children) in the car were fired upon by terrorists using an automatic weapon. When is enough enough?

    1. The answer is... when terrorists within Israel launch home-made rockets at the homes of Israel's civilian population. This is a new discovery just uncovered in Samaria and now released to the public via Twitter, yet confirmed by Israeli security officials.

  18. Just a note and observation.
In southern NJ over the past few days F-16s have been exercising day and night. This exercising seems to be medium to high altitude dogfighting instead of ground attack runs at the Warren Grove range. Not the normal type of air activity over south Jersey.

  19. Sean, it is interesting you say that about the jets in New Jersey. I am in southeastern Virginia and they have also been running jets for the last 48 hours. MonkeyWerx has some great youtube videos on why this is. Apparently it is happening over a huge chunk of the US. I’m wondering if it is for the exercise coming up in Europe or something more concerning here in the US.

  20. In thinking about all the local air activity going on, it struck me how there's been a sudden dearth of IAF strikes in Syria.

The Israeli strikes were occurring regularly for weeks on end, and they were highly, if not overwhemingly successful, so much so that now Hezbollah plans on the seizure of Beirut International Airport so the IRGC-QF can send military airfreight direct to their terrorist proxy and dare the IAF to strike Beirut airport.

This SITREP has run its course, and on this final observational note we move forward.
