Global SITREP A8-19: Temple Mount

Sheikh Abdelazim Salhab
24 February 2019: Last night Israeli police arrested the man pictured above, the head of the Jerusalem Waqf, because on Friday, 22 February, he ordered the breaking of the locked chain in place since 2003 at the Gate of Mercy. This gate, known in Hebrew as the Sha'ar HaRachamim, is known in Christianity as the Golden Gate and provides direct access to the Temple Mount.

The door known as bab al-Rahma opened (i24 image)

The Friday order to break in allowed Muslims to swarm inside the long-closed interior compound through double doors known as Bab al-Rahma (southern door) and bab al-Taubah (northern door). Also arrested was Sheikh Salhab's deputy, HAMAS' Sheikh Najih Bakirat, who is also leads the Academy of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Islamic media are referring to these arrests as "abductions." In this action the Jordanian Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Abdul Nasser Abu Al-Basal, declared Israeli forces  to be "playing with fire." Later this morning the two Waqf officials were released from police custody with an order banning them from Temple Mount for one week.

In this action the Islamic Waqf is seeking to usurp Israeli sovereignty by igniting a full-fledged religious war over control of the Temple Mount. It is not Israel that plays with fire, but Islam itself. Eschatology Today made this clear nearly ten years ago when we quoted Zechariah 12:2-3 in the post titled: America, Listen to the Lord thy God and Leave Jerusalem Alone!!!

"Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of [a]drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it."
The Jerusalem Post yesterday also published an article under the headline:
WAQF: TEMPLE MOUNT SITE WILL REMAIN OPEN DESPITE ISRAELI CRACKDOWN. The article has a nice photo of the interior view. Also worth checking out is the GotQuestions website's article on this subject. It contains important details worthy of our contemplation: What is the significance of the Eastern Gate of Jerusalem?  This article may answer questions some of us may have on this subject.

  1. With this SITREP A8-19 I have also placed all other recent SITREPs back in their proper sequence. From here forward the alpha-numeric sequence of Global SITREPs will be maintained as updates are added to each topic over time.

  2. Just to clear it up, does that mean a SITREP will not move to the top when it is updated?

    1. Vincent,

If a particular SITREP is only a week or two since posting, it will temporarily move to the top and then go back to its sequential position after a couple days.

If more than a month since the original posting an update might well be made as a "Part II" of the original SITREP.

  3. Hi Sean:
Having been a strong proponent of the Psalm 83 war for several years now and also being convinced that Iran will get hit in both the Psalm 83 war and Ezekiel 38-39 (thanks to Bill Salus), I'm curious about your thoughts on what might break the treaties between Israel and both Egypt and Jordan. There do seem to be signs of problems behind the scenes in both situations, and a third--with Saudi Arabia. It seems to me that it wouldn't take much for Muslim extremists within all three nations to force a breaking of any relationships with Israel, especially if hostilities were to break out with Hezbollah, Hamas, or other surrogates of Iran. This in my view would bring the Psalm 83 war in full force before Russia were able to get itself into the mix. I think Russia has several other military irons in the fire. I see the Psalm 83 conflict happening at lightening speed when it does. What are your thoughts?

  4. Hiya Old Ox,

My personal view is that Iran recieves its due in Jeremiah 49:34-39 and Ezekiel 38/39. I do not include Iran as part of the Psalm 83 scenario simply because Iran is nowhere mentioned in Psalm 83 abd the directly related prophecies: Isaiah 11:14 and Ezekiel 28:24-26.

As for Jordan, this one is simple to me. Events like the subject of this thread (Temple Mount conflict) will bring Jordan into the Psalm 83 war. I also do not accept Egypt as part of Psalm 83; I don't accept the Hebrew (KJV) patrial noun "הַגְרִי Hagriy" in Psalm 83:6 as indicating Egypt. Instead they are identified elsewhere in Scripture as being an Arabian tribe dwelling far to the east of the Jordan River.

In my view the final fulfillment of Psalm 83 erupts due to the retaliatory destruction of Damascus (and the government of Syria) by Israel. This destruction will occur immediately after Israel (the part known as ancient Ephraim) is attacked with ballistic missiles carrying chemical warheads fired from Syria. Isaiah 17:11.

  5. Heads-up... Netanyahu to Moscow for face-to-face with Putin. This visit is preparatory for renewed IAF air strikes on IRGC targets in Syria including a newly identified missile factory in northwest Syria. Tick-tock...

Breaking News Alert - India and Pakistan, both are nuclear armed, are now engaged in full-scale war all along the 460-mile long LoC that divides Jammu and Kashmir between them. New SITREP in progress.

  7. Indian PM Modi has told his military commanders they can prosecute the war against Pakistan as they see fit.

    The danger level is extreme.

    1. I'm sure self preservation will win out in the end. They just need to figure out the chess piece that allows both sides to save face so they don't look like they are cowards. That's my thoughts anyways .

  8. Comments on the Ind-Pak war will be transferred to the new SITREP that'll post later today.

The prophetic perspective will be wrt "the kings from the east." This war has an as yet undeterminable role in that.
