1 January 2026: Day Four of the nation-wide anti-Twelver regime protests in the Islamic Republic might be remembered as the first day of the Iranian people's counter-revolution.
In the city of Hamedan, the epicenter of the pro-monarchist Pahlavi aspect of the revolt, the IRGC HQ was attacked and set ablaze. One IRGC/Basij soldier was killed and at least a dozen were wounded according to early intel. The response from the government was live fire and gas grenades.
A curious and unique development came from reformist Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian who said the rebelling populace have "legitimate grievances." Nothing like this has happened in the past ten years of Iranian popluar unrest.
The question now is will kinetic and neutralizing military assistance be forthcoming from the US and/or Israel?
