04 December 2009: The Third Temple is coming to Jerusalem. However I have my doubts whether its construction will have anything to do with the reports being circulated regarding a long deceased rabbi by the name of Vilna Gaon or the alleged imminent destruction of the newly reconstrcuted Hurva (Ruins) Synagogue in Jerusalem.
We all know that the Third Temple will be where the Jews reinstate the daily worship and daily sacrifice which the Antichrist will put a stop to. It will be within the Temple, in that part known as the Holy Place, where an image that will be made to speak will be stood up.
These things have occured in the past as a template for the future, during the reign of the prototype antichrist, Seleucid King Antiochus IV Epiphanes. This event is the Abomination of Desolation.
Our Lord and Savior told us so:
“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place...”
Matthew 24:15a
The precise location inside the Temple that Jesus is referencing from Daniel can be seen in the image below. (From Chuck Missler's KHouse website)
I also believe that God's Word tells us when the Third Temple will be built during these last days. This is yet another specific template of a future prophetic event found in the Old Testament. The timing reference is related to the timing and conditions that were required for the building of Solomon's Temple on the Lord's specific instructions:
1 Kings 5:1-5, verses 3 and 4 especially.
1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon, because he heard that they had anointed him king in place of his father, for Hiram had always loved David.2 Then Solomon sent to Hiram, saying:3 You know how my father David could not build a house for the name of the LORD his God because of the wars which were fought against him on every side, until the LORD put his foes under the soles of his feet.4 But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence.5 And behold, I propose to build a house for the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spoke to my father David, saying, “Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, he shall build the house for My name.”
After the enemies are defeated and wars on Israel's every side are won, then we'll see the condition set for the rebuilding of this prophetically important structure. After Isaiah 17, Psalm 83 are fulfilled I do expect the Temple to be constructed very quickly thereafter.
It will be through the reinstatement of Hebrew Temple worship in the Temple in Jerusalem that God will pour out His Spirit on all Israel in fulfillment of Romans 11 and a host of other Bible prophecies. And the scales will be removed from their eyes and they will look upon Him whom they pierced.
And the Bride is in Heaven with Messiah.
i always was taught that the third (tribulation)temple was an abomination and the sacrifices were unnacceptable because Jesus was the final sacrifice and the spirit of supplication wouldnt be poured out til the 2nd coming. was i taught incorrectly?
ReplyDeletehartdawg,
ReplyDeleteYes, I say that you were taught incorrectly. I say you were taught false doctrine.
Where in God's Word does it say that the Third Temple itself will be an abomination and the daily sacrifices unacceptable?
It doesn't.
As spoken unto Daniel by the Archangel Gabriel under the direction of God:
Daniel 9:27
"He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."
Daniel 11:31
"His armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation."
Both of these verses the basis for what Jesus said in the Olivet Discourse.
In the quote above from Daniel 11:31 Gabriel says the temple will be desecrated? How can the military forces of the Antichrist desecrate an abomination?
If you again read the Matthew 24:15 quote in the article above carefully you will see that Christ refers to the abmonination as standing in "the holy place."
How can an abomination be a holy place to jesus Christ?
Therefore, no doubt about it, you were taught incorrectly.
thank you. i always wondered why in 2thess ch 2 it is referred to as the temple OF GOD and also in rev ch 11 the same wording. temple OF GOD. I could never reconcile it, but now it makes sense.
ReplyDeletehartdawg,
ReplyDeleteSee there, you had the correct teaching all along because you had the Word!
Next time you have a question on teaching like this just remember that in 2 Thessalonians 2:4, Revelation 11:1 and the entire Holy Bible from cover to cover for that matter ... the Lord is unambiguous; He does not stutter or mis-speak His living Word. Without question the Holy Spirit will tell you so directly.
amen brother!
ReplyDeleteYour use of 1 Kings 5:3-4 as a prerequisite for the building of the Temple was really eye-popping, Sean. Thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree, though, that the Third Temple isn't apostate. I know it's inferred, but during the Tribulation Israel is still denying the Messiah and coming to God on their own terms - hence an apostate Temple.
We also know that when Jesus returns the Third Temple will be destroyed. The great earthquake at that time will radically change the topography of Jerusalem and all the earth (Rev. 6:12-17). In Jerusalem it will result in the provision of a very large level area where the Millennial Temple will be constructed. This is the temple from which Jesus will reign over all the earth. It is described in detail in Ezekiel 40-46.
Hi Nathan,
ReplyDeleteYes, the 1 Kings 5 verses really got my attention... I was researching for some information that Bill Salus had asked about concerning Asaph and King David for his latest article when I found myself reading those verses and immediately being convicted by the Spirit about their utility in the current and near-term future situation.
I didn't mean to imply anything apostate or non-apostate about the coming Third Temple - I simply view it as the Jews returning to Temple worship as they did a couple thousand years ago with the new implements of worship being crafted as we speak.
I agree completely on the earthquake and Temple destruction when Jesus returns.
Where in the word does it say that a fourth Temple will be built?
ReplyDeleteSee Nathan Jones comment above with Scripture reference to Ezekiel chapters 40 through 46.
ReplyDeleteThat's the Millennial (i.e. fourth) Temple.
