Banana Republic

11 May 2010: I never thought I'd live to see the day that the United States of America could be so easily compared to the primary factors which define the generic "banana republic." In case you were unaware, a banana republic is defined as being a country which is politically unstable, dependent on limited agriculture, and ruled by a small, self-elected, wealthy, and corrupt clique.

Sound familiar? I thought so too. And after I exhausted all of the apropos comic relief that definition elicited, the reality of it hit home, as well it should. Everything in this world seems to have been turned upon its head: indecency, vulgarity are accepted and common place, wrong is right, criminals and terrorists are celebrated, insane is sane, and the United States of America, now more than ever before, resembles a garden variety Banana Republic than its Constitutional Republic doppelganger.

Case in point. Late next month Lamb & Lion Ministries is hosting it's "Defending the Faith" Bible Prophecy Conference in Allen, Texas. For the second successive time our brother in the Lord, Donald Dolmus, a citizen of Nicaragua (again under the Marxist regime of president Daniel Ortega), has been flatly denied the eight-day non-immigrant visa required by our State Department to attend this Bible conference. Apparently the United States Government is convinced once again, despite all of the concrete and considerable evidence to the contrary, that Donald intends to abandon his loving wife and young son, their home, his job in the banking industry, and all of the stability they have established in Managua, Nicaragua to escape into the burgeoning socialist utopia being erected in the United States by our current usurper president and leftist Congress. Who, pray tell, in their right mind would want to do that? Unbelievably, the United States government fervently believes it.

Of course it is no problem for this same U.S. State Department to repeatedly issue non-immigrant visas to the likes of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or Hugo Chavez who come here to trash this nation and our Israeli ally with regularity. But Donald is rejected the same non-immigrant visa by the US government because he wants to attend, by invitation, a Bible conference. Am I splitting hairs here? Well, mind you, this is the same United States government which refuses to enforce the "on the books" laws to secure our borders from illegal immigration and simultaneously severely criticizes the State of Arizona's new immigration law, which was enacted specifically because the Obama Administration refuses to execute it's duty to secure our borders. Moreover, this government is even attempting the process whereby illegal aliens in the United States are offered blanket amnesty of their criminal acts.

What's wrong with this picture? Too much irrational and illogical nonsense to keep the blood pressure down, that's for sure. So, I move on, more galvanized than before to do what can be done to change things in the next election, to defend the faith, and believe that the Lord's will is being done. There's always next year and many months until then to fight the good fight.

  1. I'm very dejected over our brother Donald not being able to come up for our L&L conference. It would appear only the wealthy are allowed visas, indicating who knows what side of the government that requirement comes from.

  2. this blatent, hypcritical double-standard sickens me. i`ll bet if he were to attend some leftist, marxist summit meeting or some major islamic event he`d have a vista rushed to him. well, i seriously doubt the government is THAT hypocritical but i`m still sickened.

  3. Dear readers:

Just for the record, this is the third time that the US Embassy in Nicaragua denies me the visa.

  4. I'm so sorry to hear that Donald, and greatly embarrassed by our current government.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
