Come Up Hither!

06 June 2014: I was just thinking early this morning about the Harpazo. I was thinking how most of mankind who do not yet know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior consider our belief in the surety of the Harpazo to be "peculiar." And true to the prophetic words of Paul that a great apostasy among our formerly faithful brethren would occur prior to our hearing the command "Come Up Hither!" there are signs all around that this "apostasia" is very much a current reality, as are all of the signs given by the Lord for the season of the command's utterance with the voice of an Archangel. Therefore, the faithful watchman must conclude that our "episynagōgē" to be with the Lord must be very near indeed.

Nevertheless, there are the scoffers, apostates and non-believers alike, who abrade the very notion of His promise "that where I am, there ye may be also" in the twinkling of an eye. Woe to ye of lost or no faith in the Omnipotent God! Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when He doesn't come for you!

They seem to think, as is evident once again with this summer's HBO miniseries "The Leftovers" is that the Harpazo of the Bride of Christ occurs without explanation. This is an old refrain, it is nothing new. People have always believed that the Harpazo would occur and there would be no explanation, no evidence whatsoever for the nanosecond when the disappearance of millions of human beings from the face of the Earth actually does occur.

I beg to differ. There will be evidence, abundant evidence, and that evidence will come from the hundreds of millions of live cameras on our streets, in buildings, in places you would never think to even look for the pin-hole sized all-seeing eyes of modern imaging technology. Nothing escapes the gaze of the modern digitized, networked world of cyber surveillance.

In the car at the stoplight in Anytown, USA the live video camera perched on the metallic arm supporting the traffic light the driver is seen obeying, will capture the split second that same driver vanishes from behind the wheel. It and hundreds of thousands just like it will capture the scene of instantaneous road rage as traffic comes to a halt due to driverless cars either not moving or careening into other traffic, trees, storefronts, crowded sidewalks - you name it - from every conceivable direction. Live video devices will capture people as they vanish from their jobs, restaurants, amusement parks and every other venue imaginable.

And as for the deceptive mantra that there will be no explanation for the instantaneous mass disappearance of millions, well, that's just plain silly. It's as silly as all of the articles from the scoffers saying there will be no such thing as the Harpazo; that it was all just some evangelical over zealousness and baseless religious fervor that has caused the disappearances. You see, video and television presentations like the HBO series "The Leftovers" are not so much about the Harpazo as they are about the crises faced by those who are not taken, and who know as sure as they know their own names that Jesus has just called His Bride up into Heaven. They will know precisely what has occurred, so no explanation will be necessary as those video recordings will be played over and over again, even in super slow motion. They will know, and then they will begin to pray.

Remember, we're talking about the Harpazo, not the end of the world. It is written: "And some of those of understanding shall fall, to refine them, purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end; because it is still for the appointed time." (Daniel 11:35)

  1. Here's something that I found quite interesting, and it demonstrates that Satan and even a few new agers are aware of the rapture. This morning I saw a car with the coexist sticker on it, a modern pagan symbol in my opinion, and right beside it was a bumper sticker that said "come the rapture, we'll have the world to ourselves". That makes me wonder if these neo pagan earth worshippers are aware of the rapture. This car had a lot of earth first type of stickers on it as well

  2. Yes, there is no doubt that Satan is aware of the Lord's openly announced plan to Harpazo the Bride of Christ off of this earth prior to the 70th Week.

Satan did not know the day or the hour when the flood of Noah would occur for the same reason he does not know the day or the hour when the Harpazo will occur - so he cannot do anything to interfere with it.

It is exactly as Jesus said: "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only."

Jesus confirmed what i just wrote with the very next two sentences that He spoke:

"But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

It does not get any clearer than this why the moment the Harpazo will occur is unknown to anyone until the very moment that God commands that it occur.

  3. Matt 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

I love verse 35. If Jesus said His word will not pass away, that's good enough for me. We do live in an exciting time in history.

  4. Sean, I've heard some prophecy teachers say that "giving in marriage" may be an indication of homosexual marriage. Otherwise, why the distinction between "marriage" and "giving in" marriage? It's an interesting speculation. What do you think?

  5. Amber,

I would reject a teaching of Matthew 24:38 which suggests anything other than marriage between a man and a woman. Such should be rejected as false teaching simply because it is.

The Genesis 6 frame of reference:

In the example of the destruction of the whole Earth by the Flood, Noah's ark is used as a type of Harpazo. The ark saved an elect few and went up prior to the flood just as the pre-70th Week Harpazo will save an elect.

The flood was brought as judgment upon the Earth (Genesis 6) because of the angelic host which followed Satan in rebellion and left their first estate, came to the earth and raped women at their will to create the race of human-angelic hybrids, known as the Nephilim. This corruption of the earth (Genesis 6:11-12) of the Adamic race of mankind that God had created had to be wiped out because of the wickedness and evil that was inherent in them.

However, Noah was perfect in his generations (his lineage to Adam) and so were his sons,(Genesis 6:9), and they were saved in the ark, which is a type of Harpazo that will occur prior to the destruction of the earth by fire in the 70th Week.

There is no reference to homosexuality in Genesis 6, just of corruption, wickedness and evil.

Back to Jesus' Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24:

The words in Greek within Matthew 24:38 are gameō and ekgamizō which are specific to a man marrying a woman, and the woman's father giving her to the husband in that marriage.

Elsewhere in the Bible we know that homosexuality is viewed as an abomination unto God; it is a Satanic corruption of God's intent in the creation of Adam and Eve to populate this Earth.

  6. Hi Sean,

I discovered your blog via Jan Markell's Olive Tree Ministries website. You do great stuff. I especially liked this article about the rapture. How timely it is. CNN posted a commentary Sunday from a writer who mocks the rapture and says Jesus wouldn't agree with it.

    See: http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/06/opinion/parini-rapture-real/index.html?hpt=hp_c2

What crazy times we live in! Keep up the great work, and may God bless you.

  7. Brian,

Thanks and welcome to the Eschatology Today blog!

I saw Jay Parini's ridiculous article late last night. So predictable, yet he confirms what I wrote in this article -- the scoffers have no alibi, they are 100% aware of the Harpazo yet have determined for themselves that it is nothing for them to be concerned about; that only "fundamentalist Protestants" believe the Harpazo will occur prior to the 70th Week.

Of course, they could not possibly be more wrong in their rejection of the Harpazo. The blind leading the blind.

  8. By the way, Jay Parini is also totally incorrect where he wrote, "Catholics discount the idea (of the Rapture) completely."

    From a Catholic website:

"With respect to the rapture, Catholics certainly believe that the event of our gathering together to be with Christ will take place, though they do not generally use the word "rapture" to refer to this event (somewhat ironically, since the term "rapture" is derived from the text of the Latin Vulgate of 1 Thess. 4:17—"we will be caught up," [Latin: rapiemur])."

Most Catholics believe the Rapture/Harpazo will occur after the tribulation of the 70th Week.

  9. I get so tired of hearing the defunct Darby argument. I imagine you share my frustration with that one. Here's something else I'm sure you'll find quite interesting as it demonstrates how plain the scriptures are on the pretrib harpadzo. True story by the way. Someone at work who knows I'm a Christian and studies the bible one day asks me mockingly "don't you get scared when you read revelation about all the bad stuff that's going to happen"? I simply quoted revelation 3:10 and he understood immediately that I wasn't going to be here for it. Keep in mind he knows nothing about the bible or the rapture except that revelation is filled with "really scary stuff". I simply quoted that verse and he understood immediately. Why can't "scholars" get it?

  10. hartdawg,

Revelation 3:10 is the trump that totally refutes and rebukes all who say there will not be a Pre-70th Week Harpazo.

Game, set, match, so to speak.
